By lending your support to the Kirsten Haglund Foundation, you are part of a movement toward acceptance of this illness, and the empowerment of a generation. Here are a few of our stories.

SARAH, Philadelphia

“Not one day goes by that I do not think about the Kirsten Haglund Foundation’s enormous gift to me; one that has truly given me the opportunity to get my life back. No words can justify my feelings of gratitude. My eating disorder threw me off my intended path leaving me hopeless, broken and lost. I gave up on my self and my ability to ever find recovery. I lost the strength and hope to fight. But the Kirsten Haglund Foundation never gave up on me! They gave me a gift that no amount of thanks can repay. They helped me get the help I needed and regain my strength to fight my eating disorder. This foundation has given me more hope and healing than I ever thought I could have! The Kirsten Haglund foundation truly saved my life!”

“I never cease to be amazed at God’s work. I had been struggling with my anorexia for nearly 10 years and my insurance would not pay for treatment; Just when I thought all hope was lost, God connected me with the Kirsten Haglund Foundation. I am so grateful for the treatment that the KHF provided me with. Now my heart is changed and full of hope and healing!”

Laura, MIchigan

“The KHF was there to support me in my quest for treatment for my eating disorder when it seemed like I had exhausted all of my other resources. I am very thankful for their help and encouragement.”

Kaylin, Nebraska

“If it wasn’t for the Kirsten Haglund Foundation, I know I wouldn’t be alive today. My life had gone completely dark. I thought I had no way out and I sure couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. I had no insurance, no way of paying out of pocket, and I didn’t receive another scholarshsip I had applied for. The Kirsten Haglund Foundation was a God-sent blessing when I received it. They were patient, kind, took me under their wing, and spoke truth into my life. They were with me every step of the way. I still keep in touch with them today. I am forever grateful for both Iora and Kirsten. They helped forever change my life. After 16 years as a prisoner of an eating disorder and after 14 treatments, I can honestly say that I am living in freedom and happiness. Love to you all!!”

erin, illinois

Thank you to the Kirsten Scholarship that gave me the opportunity to go to residential….Treatment taught me that I have a future ahead and that food is not the enemy….even though it was hard at treatment and it was a lot of work, it is worth it. I get to have my life back after four years of an eating disorder….because I was lucky to be able to have a scholarship to go to treatment....I hope other girls or boys suffering with an eating disorder who cannot afford  treatment will be lucky enough to get a scholarship too, because living with an eating disorder is a nightmare! Thank you for the people who work hard to fund this organization. I really am grateful for it. With lots of love and thankfulness.

gina (erin's mom), illinois

“Words cannot express my gratitude for your organization. Without your scholarship program it would not have been possible for Erin to attend…I know her attitude has changed and she still needs counseling, however I am forever grateful. 'He has made everything beautiful in its time.' (Ecclesiastes 3:11)”

"The Kirsten Haglund Foundation was a true beacon of hope in my life that was becoming increasingly hopeless. After battling my insurance company for years, the Foundation gave me the one gift that my insurance had refused me time after time - treatment. The treatment scholarship that the Foundation provided me with was the life-saving healing that I needed to reclaim my life from my six year battle with an eating disorder. There is not a day that goes by where I don’t think of the Foundation and the precious miracle that they were for me. The wonderful people standing behind this beautiful charity taught me that my life was worth saving and for that, they will forever have my undying gratitude."
